The Winnipeg Review is proud to present and participate in an evening of nationwide centenary celebrations of Irving Layton. Never before in Canadian history has this country united to remember - of all things! - one of its poets. Celebrations are scheduled in all ten provinces and the Yukon.

Layton was the first poet to receive the Canada Council's Governor-General's Award for literature and was nominated for the Nobel Prize by Italy and South Korea.

His life, work and disposition will be celebrated in Winnipeg at The Yellow Dog Tavern on Monday, March 12th at 8:00pm with toasts and readings by special guests including: Clarise Foster, Jan Horner, Alison Gillmor, Victor Enns and John Toone.
